Autumn's (and Val's) Annual Halloween Bash

Mike and I attended Autumn's Halloween Party last night. This year's theme was Disneyland (going with the Haunted Mansion theme). This is the copy of the evite inviation they sent to everyone:

When hinges creak, in doorless chambers. And strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker, where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present. Practicing their terror, with ghoulish delight!

Our tour begins here, the El Mio House. Here where you see paintings of some of our guests, as they appeared in their nerdy, mortal state. Kindly RSVP please, and make room for everyone. There's no turning back now...Your cadaverous palour, betrays an aura of excitement, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis into awesomeness. Is this Haunted party actually happening? Or is it your imagination, hmm? And consider this dismaying observation, this chamber has many windows, and a whole buncha doors. Which offers you this chilling challenge, to find a way to hang out! Of course, there's always my way...

Folks have all retired here to the Haunted Mansion, actually we have 999 happy haunts here, but there's room for a thousand. Any volunteers?? If you should decide to join us, final arrangements may be made by responding to this invitation.

We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat, every room has wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold, running chills!

The happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations, and will begin to materialize at 7 pm. They're assembling for a swinging wake, and they'll be expecting you.

Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide Or a silly spook may sit by your side Shrouded in a daft Disney disguise They pretend to terrorize Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!

Be sure to bring your death certificate (and perhaps a delicious treat!) if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now. We've been dying to meet you.

And the party theme overall was Disneyland. Even down to the food - bread bowls, pickles, churros...
Autumn is eating a chicken wing. It looked as out-of-place and random as the people gnawing on huge pieces of meat at Disneyland - what's that Autumn? Ok, yes, let's go on the Matterhorn...


I made the 'mummy' rice krispie treats. No Disney theme here...


I always love seeing the costumes - some people go all out. I took a few pictures of my favorites.

Autumn was Irina Spalko, from the most recent Indiana Jones movie.

Captain E.O., complete with Michael Jackson music playing from his 'belt' all night.
Other fabulous costumes I didn't get pictures of: Tron characters, Miss Piggy/Kermit the Frog, the Electrical Parade (just one person, lights and music!), the Enchanted Princess and Prince Philip, there were Alice's, King and Queen of Hearts, Snow Whites, Witch and Dopey, a gal in SHAG 60s decor (ala the promotion of the Tiki Room)...Non-Disney related costumes: Sesame Street monsters.

Oh, and if you want to know what Mike and I were, we were 'expired passport holders.' That's pretty much it. Couldn't convice Mike to dress up and couldn't afford to put anything together anyway. So I wore my old Cinderella shirt. And glow-up necklaces Mom had.



It was fun to see Autumn. She put a lot of work into the party. It turned out fabulous.
